Co-founder, Executive Vice President Karen began her career at Clinton E. Frank in Chicago, exhibiting superior negotiating skills early on by securing a transfer to CEF's San Francisco office. Karen developed her media expertise with stints at Foote, Cone and Belding, Los Angeles and San Francisco, and Ketchum Advertising, San Francisco in senior media positions. At Hawk Media and then at Mediasmith, Inc. she continued her media career with involvement in all levels of media planning and media management. Her account experience includes retail, food, business-to-business, apparel, travel, entertainment, media and technology with broad expertise across all media types. At Mediasmith, starting as early as 1994, Karen became involved in the early stages of the Internet for clients such as Exodus Communications and GTE Interactive. Karen is a strong proponent of the media planning process and at Mediasmith "we are following steps that make us a partner to our clients by working with them on tight objectives. This is the best way to set direction and deliver buys that leverage our clients' exposure." Through her work at Mediasmith, Karen has also gained extensive experience in monitoring media buying service execution and has become a recognized expert in optimizing the media buys for Fortune 500 companies and major advertisers. Her traditional media planning and buying experience, monitoring expertise and extensive online experience allow her to provide unique perspective for Mediasmith clients. Karen is a graduate of Northern Illinois University, is married, has one child, and enjoys travel and photography in her free time.
